Organizational Overview

As an Associate with DST Pharmacy Solutions (formerly Argus), you will be part of an organization that promotes better health outcomes for consumers through clinical and technological innovations. Role Overview

Business Intelligence Designers conceptualize, design, and produce visually compelling business intelligence (BI) reporting solutions (reports, dashboards, cubes, interfaces, etc.) using reporting tools, applications, and queries or scripts. They are typically responsible for the entire life cycle of smaller scope projects and for multiple phases on larger, more complex projects. BI Designers interface with various functional teams (application analysts, business intelligence, information technology, web developers, and database /data analysts) as required to support the BI solution delivery. BI Designers are experienced associates who demonstrate high-level skills with extensive proficiency. They work independently and receive minimal guidance on work assignments. Their assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. They use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.

This role will primarily focus on the development of new visualizations based on requirements from the business and product teams. They will take the documented requirements and based on the technical design of the data provided, the candidate will assist in the flow and design of the visualizations. Once the design is complete, the associate will be responsible for completing the development of a Proof of Concept for approval by the business. They will also be responsible for moving the visualization through the development Prototyping and QA process and prepare the workbooks for deployment into the Production servers.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit business requirements, identify data sources and required data elements, perform data validation and integration activities; write SQL queries, etc., to produce requested data elements for the reporting solution.

  • Perform design research, analyze user flows, and create report designs, concepts, and layouts based on the report requirements, strong knowledge of report layout principles and esthetic design concepts, and strong understanding of the customer’s vertical/industry, brand, etc.

  • Solve problems of a complex and/or diverse scope, often taking a new perspective using existing solutions and performing analysis of data that requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

Qualifications

Minimal:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work-related experience, or Master’s degree and 1 year of work-related experience, or 5 years equivalent work-related experience

  • 3 years' experience writing detailed requirements specifications for IT solution delivery with a Business Intelligence component or focus

  • Strong knowledge and experience with graphic design, visual design, user interaction, or related principles

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and ability to write and optimize SQL queries

  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle and/or agile development environment with emphasis on BI practices

  • Solid understanding of source data, its strengths, weaknesses, semantics and formats; solid knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational and dimensional)

  • Solid understanding of data integration issues and familiarity with complex data and structures; experience with BI tools (Primarily Tableau Software);

  • Experience with ETL tools

Optimal:

  • Business Intelligence certifications

  • 3 to 5 years' experience writing detailed requirements specifications for IT solution delivery with a Business Intelligence component or focus

  • Strong knowledge and experience with graphic design, visual design, user interaction, or related principles

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience writing and optimizing SQL queries

  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle and/or agile development environment with emphasis on BI practices

  • Solid understanding of source data, its strengths, weaknesses, semantics and formats

  • Solid knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational and dimensional)

  • Solid understanding of data integration issues and familiarity with complex data and structures

  • Development experience with Tableau and WebFOCUS

  • Experience with ETL tools

  • Experience in the healthcare services industry
