Organizational Overview

As an Associate with DST Pharmacy Solutions, you will be part of an organization that promotes better health outcomes for consumers through clinical and technological innovations. Role Overview

Develops, designs, and writes complex system programs as required by the business. Provides highly skilled technical recommendations in planning, engineering, and architecture. Troubleshoots difficult and complex CICS system issues and provides analysis. Interfaces with vendors for product recommendations and new architectures. Develops technical standards and policies. Installs, configures, and maintains CICS systems. Performs software installations, upgrades, and support for CICS software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Administers and maintains CICS systems software products, as required. Is seasoned, experienced, and possesses in-depth knowledge in CICS and demonstrates high-level skills with extensive proficiency. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Leads projects with moderate scope, risks, and resource requirements. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Develops and manages operational initiatives to deliver tactical results.


The CICS Administrator is responsible for the deployment, automation, monitoring, and management of the DST Pharmacy Solutions CICS infrastructure. Working closely with Architecture and Development, the CICS Administrator will design and implement tools and processes that enable a highly managed, automated, and consistent execution environment to improve time to value and reliability while reducing the use of manual processes and procedures. We are looking for a smart and articulate individual with a strong Operations background experienced with CICS Administration practices.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work-related experience, or Master’s degree and 1 year of work-related experience, or 5 years equivalent work-related experience

  • Installing, updating and administering Mainframe CICS Transaction server software

  • CICS Administration skills

  • CICS configuration and tuning

  • Monitoring and debugging CICS related issues

  • Exposure to monitoring tools (SYSVIEW , OMEGAMON)

  • Building new CICS regions, resource definitions, initialization parameters and MRO

  • Experience with enabling traces and analyzing CICS dumps

  • Knowledge on TCP/IP Socket connections and port sharing

  • Web services support using WSDL and URIMAPS

  • Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.

  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and build SME level knowledge of supported platforms

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems across complex systems

  • A strong drive to create improved processes and systems management capabilities

  • Exhibits professionalism in verbal and written communication

  • Strong time management, self-motivated toward work objectives and eager to learn

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Willing to contribute and express ideas through team work while being open minded to other’s input

Preferred Qualifications:

  • COBOL and Assembler programming knowledge

  • CICS Explorer experience

  • Unix system services

  • Understanding of SQL and relational database systems

  • Endevor configuration management
