Quality Assurance Lead
Quality Assurance Center of Excellence (QA CoE) is the provider of software testing services across the organization. QA CoE is responsible for providing appropriate testing solutions and quality control for projects and/or release for the organization. The goal of the QA CoE is to create a best in class testing team, focused on leveraging industry best practices and processes for Software Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
This role is responsible for effectively leading and managing the growth of Quality Assurance Centre of Excellence (QA CoE) along with the team of QA professionals in providing a broad range of test services and solutions, ensuring established standards are met and planned objectives are achieved. The QA Lead reports to Manager or Sr. Manager.
Leadership & Governance:
Lead a team of Quality Assurance & Test Analysts (onshore and/or offshore) in delivery of Functional test planning, test preparation and test execution as per SS&C QA standards
Understand testing impact for scope and provide QA estimates and schedule plan, resource allocation plan & forecast according to the target release to appropriate stakeholders
Identifies testing risks both within and across projects / releases and provide testing solutions / processes to mitigate the risks
Prioritize testing tasks based on goals and risks of projects and ensure testing milestones, activities are completed as scheduled
Support a positive work environment that promotes services to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues / points of interest
Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and or team
Provide insight, information and recommendations on industry trends and significant issues
Advise management and team members and provide expertise on leveraging testing assets and practices across the team
Conduct project requirement analysis, provide intake estimations, create high level test strategy , attend JAD sessions, involve in Agile /Scrum Development , Strategize, Plan and coordinate with assigned QA analysts to conduct Functional/ Integration / Project Regression testing and qualify the code for enhancements /projects and programs.
Apply various QA techniques , best practices , tools , framework and solutions to test applications developed using various technologies
Accountable for all phases of testing for assigned projects / programs and team adherence to SS&C QA CoE processes and audit requirements.
Conduct defect triages to ensure defects are documented clearly and tracked properly until fixed and retested in timely manner.
Periodically report the status of test planning, test execution and defects via daily /weekly status reporting to all project stakeholders, management and executives using standard quality metrics
Strong knowledge and experience is using Test Management tools like HP ALM, JIRA, XRay, Service Now and Test automation tools like HP UFT, Selenium, Lean FT, Cucumber, Jenkins, Postman and Scripting.
Develop, debug, execute and maintain complex Automated testing scripts using various Automation testing tools and framework
Develop and run complex SQL queries for data sourcing and shall be able to test ETL, Reports, feeds, XML, API etc. extensively.
Experience and knowledge testing legacy applications developed in Mainframe / Progress/ Java / C++ and latest technologies, third party applications etc.
Plan, train & participate knowledge transfer activities to the QA team members and clients as required
Coach / mentor new or less experienced team members in the QA team and work to bridge knowledge gap in the team as it arises and stays available for the team to support on need
With the strong business / domain knowledge contribute sharing knowledge of the system & business to the project team and peer team members
Continuously willing to learn new processes, methodologies, technologies, tools, techniques and implement them in suitable projects as required.
Mentor team members and support them for their career growth in all possible aspects.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Accountable for all QA deliverables in all phases of testing including Inception, Sprint Testing, System Integration testing (SIT), Business / User Acceptance testing (BAT / UAT) & Warranty support.
Lead onshore and offshore test teams in the delivery of the HLE/SOW Estimates, Test planning, Test Automation,Test Data preparation, Test execution activities in adherence to the SS&C standards
Identification, Implementation and Governance of SS&C QA(CoE) best practices and process improvements across all projects & programs
Responsible for quality of all assigned projects/ program QA deliverables
Support for measurement and improvement of client satisfaction, building of action plans to address gaps
Collaboration and communication with SS&C teams on initiatives, resolution of issues and risk mitigation strategies
Support for hiring, onboarding and retaining team members
Step up to handle emergency changes / fixes for production issues/ defects.
5+ years working in the financial / wealth management domain (No Loans & Credit cards), with strong knowledge in various financial products & instruments including Mutual Funds/ Segregated Funds.
Working knowledge of QA methodologies ( Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid Agile )
Experience working with 3rd party vendors
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong negotiation and project management skills
Excellent organization and time management skills
Must be able to work until 12:00pm EST and more as required to have better overlap with teams in Canada & Europe
Experience with Test Automation tools & framework ( HP UFT / ALM / Selenium, Postman, JIRA, Confluence, Xray/ Service Now)
Experience in people management and working with geographically distributed teams
Experience in Data sourcing , ETL process and proficiency in building complex SQL queries
