Role Overview:

Financial Reporting Project Specialists are responsible for map construction, maintenance and controls related to holding and financial statement disclosures via financial reporting databases and systems. These are used to complete financial reporting filings as required by regulations established by the SEC, GAAP and ALPS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead for map construction, ongoing maintenance and controls for databases and systems which are used to prepare and review information for shareholder reports and required filings for clients.

  • Lead for maintenance and controls related to databases and systems data load processes used in completing holdings, financial statements and other tables used in shareholder reports, filings and other reports for clients.

  • Lead for training staff on use of databases and systems, updating maps and financial statements and data load processes.

  • Maintain project plans for reporting periods and coordinate updates with Financial Reporting, Controllers and Creative Services groups at ALPS, for existing clients and client conversions.

  • Maintain user rights in the databases and systems.

  • Work with the vendor relationship manager to improve process’s and trouble shoot issues that arise during the reporting process.

  • Lead on databases and systems product implementations and upgrades along with participation in disaster recovery testing. This includes developing efficiencies within the reporting group along with other groups that rely on databases and systems information.

  • As needed, provide training to other groups that utilize maps and statements.

  • Work with supervisors and managers to implement new regulatory pronouncements related to the required disclosures for funds. This includes standardization of these policies for all clients in systems and databases.

  • Participate in the departmental special projects related to automation and improvements for systems and databases.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of experience within investment company industry and general understanding of accounting principles. Previous experience in financial statement presentation and regulatory filings preferred.

  • Dynamic personality with project management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to solve problems and communicate them to management.

  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. Excel and Word).

  • Programming experience with a reporting data base (preferably Confluence Unity).

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferable in Accounting or Finance.
