Job Description:

SS&C ALPS is a leading Registered Fund Services provider in the financial services industry. Founded in 1985, Denver-based SS&C ALPS, with offices in Boston, Dallas, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto also delivers asset management and asset servicing solutions through ALPS Advisors, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SS&C Technologies, Inc.

ALPS Alternative Investment Services is seeking an entry level Fund Accountant to join our Alternative Asset group. This group of driven professionals provides fund administration services including tasks such as book accounting, partnership accounting, valuation services, investor accounting and managing client relationships with our hedge fund and other pooled investment fund clients. This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone looking to start their career in the accounting and financial industry.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the books of record for alternative investment vehicles such as Hedge Funds and other pooled investment funds.

  • Maintain investor capital account records by recording capital activity and allocating fund profit and loss

  • Record general ledger entries and investment activity to support fund transaction activity

  • Reconcile transaction details and balances from the general ledger to third party supporting documentation

  • Record capital closing activities and calculate investor allocations for subsequent closings

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly or annual audit ready work papers to support fund accounting records

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly or annual unaudited financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals or other standards to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Communicate with and manage client relationships

  • Provide assistance with year-end fund financial statement audit and tax preparation services

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years equivalent work-related experience within the accounting or other financial related services industries

  • General understanding of accounting and financial securities and markets

  • Strong inter-personal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Strong desire to learn and excel in a team based environment; career minded

  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Excel, a must

  • Able to effectively communicate with and manage client relationships

  • Knowledge of Advent Geneva, a plus
