Role Overview

As a member of the Investment Services team, Investment Data Specialists are capable of carrying out monthly updates of customer investment data, including but not limited to setting up and processing incoming customer data spreadsheets, updating customer databases, performing quality reviews, and other support activities. They assist in gathering, analyzing, and documenting customer business requirements and processes to produce customer communications. They create and maintain standard documentation and procedural materials for all tasks and present or distribute as appropriate. Investment Data Specialists may also provide scheduled and ad-hoc support to internal business units for their area(s) of expertise. Their support activities include, but are not limited to research requests, complex question assistance, and project/meeting assistance or oversight. Investment Data Specialists evaluate down-stream impacts and recommend or utilize best business practices for the work they perform. They are assigned customer-specific and corporate projects specific to their area(s) of expertise.


Investment Data Specialists are responsible for ensuring that all components of the internal DST system and Client Monthly Data Updates in Albany are completed correctly and on schedule as assigned, including retrieving and process monthly and daily investment data files, collecting and processing all scheduled and off-schedule data files provided by 50+ clients each month; create, run, modify, and manage investment update routines and programs as needed for new and existing clients; evaluate and identify current routines for incoming data files where improvements can be implemented to improve efficiencies and client experiences. Additionally, Investment Data Specialists may be asked to research investment-related issues and provide answers and explanations that can be used in communications with clients, both internal and external.


Required Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Superior time management skills

Desired Skills

  • 1+ year experience working in Excel and Access and/or other database applications

  • Experience working as part of a team

  • Attention to detail

  • Customer service skills

  • Familiarity with JIRA application, or other project ticketing tools
