They conduct research to design, develop, implement, and/or enforce best business practices that support applicable compliance standards. They test and/or verify the impact of regulatory changes to the company's systems, operational processes, and procedures. Control Analysts review fund and shareholder account information and develop activity reports to detect any potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions. In the event a potentially suspicious activity is identified, they determine if further investigation/research is warranted, conduct the analysis as needed, and work with internal and/or external management teams to achieve an acceptable resolution. Control Analysts identify, document, and escalate suspicious trends and patterned activity to limit potential future risks. Control Analysts may serve as the FinCEN coordinator for the operational area, linking the external client, FBI, and operations management to ensure known matches are reported appropriately. They may also participate on various compliance and/or risk related committees and councils. Demonstrating strong knowledge in the subject matter, Control Analysts assist with facilitating internal compliance-related training/certification programs. They may also assist with developing, communicating, and administering disaster/business recovery plans for the operational area(s).
