Job Description Marketing Managers represent the top-level marketing manager in an organization or division. They lead multiple marketing teams or functions. Marketing Managers work with individual business units to create global marketing strategy, work with product leaders on long-term product marketing strategy, and work with sales managers to set marketing strategy based on sales goals. They determine how marketing plans should be executed to drive sales. Marketing Managers shape marketing plans to reach target markets. They research and develop messaging for products. Marketing Managers guide and develop supervisors and department staff. They set overall department policies within established corporate guidelines. They are accountable for all personnel administration for the associates managed (e.g., hiring, evaluating performance, and taking disciplinary action.) Marketing Managers set, monitor, and manage multiple team or business unit budgets. They apply broad knowledge of company, affiliates, products, industries, and markets as they relate to the overall deparment focus.
The Media Relations Manager will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining positive media coverage for the DST enterprise in support of corporate growth strategies. As part of the CMTC marketing communications team, the Media Relations Manager consults with associates from marketing, sales, product development, client relationship management, legal, human resources and executive offices to project the corporate message to both external and internal audiences through media relations strategies that support product sales, corporate awareness, and community, associate and investor relations. This person may also interface with external PR resources and act as the corporate spokesperson to the media, industry analysts and the general public at large. The Media Relations manager will be a key information source for all media contacts requesting data and insights, and will manage the development, implementation and coordinate of external public relations strategies, with the goal of gaining recognition in the markets we serve, promoting the sale of DST solutions, and establishing our thought leadership throughout target industries.
Primary Responsibilities
·Clarify company’s point of view on important issues to general public, marketplace, investors, clients, employees
·Establish DST as a key technology player in both vertical and horizontal markets through media and industry analyst exposure.
·Draft and edit press releases and by-line articles to high standards consistent with company messaging and editorial guidelines
·Participate in special events or other activities DST supports in order to gain public attention through the media – including trade shows, community events, client events, etc.
·Assign, supervise, review and coordinate legal approval for the activities of public relations staff, affiliate and joint venture resources, and external establishments and consultants that develop and implement communication strategies and information programs on behalf of DST
·Manage relationships with a variety of media including tech, business, local, vertical, industry analysts, and across media types including blogs, online, print and broadcast
·Review editorial schedules and manage process to ensure the firm appears in appropriate key features
·Develop and maintain company internet or intranet web pages
·Identify main audiences and determine the best way to communication information to them
·Serve as main information source for all media contacts requesting information and insights
·Work closely with internal resources to develop creative and integrated programs to support product introduction, service offerings, new technology and thought leadership
·Establish processes to generate steady volume of press exposure and promote within the appropriate channels
·Arrange, facilitate and manage media and analyst briefings with key company salespeople
·Establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements
·Regularly interact with senior management and executive levels on matters concerning several functional area, divisions, and/or customers
·Assist with company representation on all social media outlets
·Manage speaking opportunities and awards programs
·Maintain corporate PR archives
·Participate in professional organizations, seminars and continuing education programs to stay up-to-date in the field
