Our SeniorETL Engineerswillbe part of a fast-paced development team working with the architect and analysts to define the ETL design and infrastructure and leading the effort on development, testing and implementation. This individual will be responsible for the full life cycle coverage of ETL component development as well as database loading and manipulation to ensure that the data needs are met throughout the course of the project.
Responsibilities and skills:
1. Proven use of best practices for ETL processing including design patterns, auditing, error and exception processing.
2. Willingness to adapt Agile development methods to ETL and data projects.
3. Experienced with high-volume data loads and ability to identify, evaluate and resolve performance issues and bottlenecks.
4. Ability to design and write structured and consistent well-documented code.
5. Experienced implementing repeatable unit testing process for change control.
6. Ability to estimate efforts and schedules and communicate and work effectively in diverse team environment.
7. Work with data architects to contribute to the design both logical and physical data models and tuning database for maximum performance.
8. Work with business analysts to create functional specifications including data mapping, processing requirements, data flow diagrams and integration testing strategies.
9. Ability to mentor junior developers in a team environment.
Requirements:
1. 5 + years of full lifecycle experience in designing and developing ETL programs for data repositories.
2. 6 - 8 + years of programming experience with exposure to database component development
3. Experience with DB2 and DataStage a plus.
4. Good understanding of the basic principles and practices of transactional databases and analytical data stores, marts, warehouses.
5. Excellent communication and writing skills.
6. Financial industry and understanding of concepts and terms a definite plus.
